Volumes I and II - Two books with first-hand accounts of human interactions with whales.
When People and Whales Interact... Lives are Changed -
designed by Bruce Conway

"Whale Tales" is a unique anthology of first-person accounts of close encounters between humans and whales. Author Peter Fromm has gathered these stories about meetings with 12 different species of whales including: orca, humpback, minke, greywhale and dolphins. The contributors from 15 countries range are cetacean scientists, sailors, fisherman, whale watchers, artists and teachers. Their stories speak of encounters that reach into our inner hearts. After reading Whale Tales I and II, you will never again doubt that there are other intelligent beings here on Earth...beneath the waves.

Since 1994, Peter Fromm has been documenting human encounters with whales. He shares these stories of human/whale interaction in a slide and video show presentation, often asking the audience to relate their own experiences with whales. Fromm also gives examples of the changing relationship between humans and whales, and discusses the natural history of cetaceans.

Peter Fromm has presented educational programs since the mid 1960's. He earned a MS at the University of Oregon in Audio-Visual Communication combined with Outdoor Recreation/Education, and also a BFA in Photography at Ohio University. He has taught and worked in the communication/recreation- education fields in many universities, agencies and communities. His photographs and writings have been shown and published in galleries, numerous books, magazines and newspapers. His slide shows have been presented to numerous audiences throughout the Pacific Northwest.

In his Whale Tales Presentations, Peter J. Fromm engages audiences of all ages with an entertaining educational program thirty to ninety minutes long.

Through story-telling, slides, and videos, Peter weaves together: stories about people's encounters with whales, dolphins, and porpoises from around the world; examples of the changing relationship between humans and whales; and, the natural history of cetaceans.

He also answers questions and encourages others to share their experiences, thoughts, and ideas about whales, nature, the world today and our interrelationship with it.

As a spokesperson for nature, Peter has presented Whale Tales several hundred times from the Pratt Museum in Homer, Alaska to the Orange County Marine Institure in Dana Point, California, the Roosevelt Park Zoo in Minot, North Dakota to the Lincoln Elementary School in Norman, Oklahoma.

The Whale Tales Presentation, and Peter's multi-projector slide show 'Visions of a Water Rat - Boats and Boating in the Pacific Northwest,' will be part of the 2000 - 2002 Washington Commission for the Humanities Inquiring Mind Program.
